Is Job Training Needed for All Medical Jobs?
If you are looking for a job in the medical industry, it is important to understand that extensive training will likely be required. Even medical jobs that don’t involve anything but paperwork usually require a lot of training before you can begin, such as the job of medical coding. Let’s take a quick look at four medical jobs and the training they require.
Nurse
To become a nurse, you will need at least two years of schooling. Many people who go on to become an RN will earn four years of schooling. A career as a nurse can take you down many paths, including the ability to work in jails, hospitals, schools, and more.
Medical coding
To become a medical coder, you will need to complete the proper certification course, which can take anywhere from 15 to 24 months. Many schools offer online medical coding courses, making it very simple to earn your degree without ever having to leave the comfort of your own home.
Physical therapist
As a physical therapist, you will need at least eight years of schooling. Your training is going to be extensive and you will need to continue your education on an ongoing basis just the same as you will with any other type of medical job.
Counselor
Counseling is a career field that can be entered into in as little as 15 months depending on the exact field of counseling you are going into. For example, a substance abuse counselor only requires 15 to 24 months of schooling. If, however, you want to earn more money as a counselor, you will need to earn a bachelor’s degree, which will take about 48 months to earn.
